[Nature Study Journal] Spider
The rooster alarm had woke me up from serenity of had fallen
asleep, and right then, I immediately remembered of what we – me and both of my
parents – arranged on few days ago. My eyes were virtually hard to open – that
toilfully I tried to open them, get up, become eager and start the journey.
Later, we`ve been prepared, and nextly began the journey…
Today we would do
nature walk – it was intended to be the part of nature study. Nature study
time`s such a delightful time, this activity had always been located in
somewhere with animals (no matter how tiny they were), plants, drops of dew,
wet soil – and the sky, bright nor dark had been the roof up there. The sun,
stars and sun were the things enlightened the earth. These things, during the
nature study, must exist, they surrounded us.
Nature`s emerging
and serving exquisiteness, adventure, eerie somewhat – being shortened:
unbounded awesomenes. Things are to learn, and scrutinize, in nature. Some
living things in nature, would be studied by us, today.
Firstly what we`d
to study and observe, were some kind of plants, which are still exist in the
near of city ledge. Too bad, the plants we`ve found weren`t as various as we
imagined – that way we moved, continuing walked uphill. There were the green wet
plants where insects lounged on the leaves, and crawled and burrowed inside.
Suddenly, a spider
appeared. Its colors striking: yellow with gold tinges, the color of abdomen;
brick red and light brown on its legs and chepalothorax; and completed with dark
dots. This one looked convincing on its webs from silk. We agreed that instead
of plants, we`d scrutinize the spider. This spider was on its webs, and it
seemed the web didn`t look striking. After browsed on everywhere, we got that
this spider`s name was Indonesian Orb Weaving Spider.
The spider reminded
me of the spider myth. That time, was a shepherd girl from Lydia, and a weaver
who weaved intricately. She was Arachne, who challenged Athene, who was also a
weaver, to compete at the loom. Athene was mad to hear that, so she destroyed
the weave of Arachne. That girl had stricken or hurt, that way she hanged
herself. The probability is, Athene was out of spite, or instead of that,
Athene`s regretful of what she had done. Later, the dead Arachne turned into a spider.
Its weaves became the web for spider relying on, trapping preys and wary of
other animals. And Arachne name, turned into Arachnida, which is the name of
spider and its families: ticks, scorpions, tarrantula and mites.
The members of this
order (Arachnida) had six legs, and they`re Arthropod. Arachnidas – were
evolutionary descendants of a sea creature – which dwelled there a long time
ago. Nowadays, a spider which lives underwater still, is called Skin-diving
spider. The first land Arachnida appeared on earth was scorpion, it emerged 400
million years ago… This statement shows us how spider, and its relatives
(Arachnids), were so adaptable.
…
Spider is a master
of weaving webs. It strings up silk into web, by a piece of silk, continued
with more pieces of silk – shaped into the webs. The signature of spider could
be seen by seeing the web, each web of spider has its own signature which is
absolutely distinct. Spider web has been tough, and even could stop a bird from
its flight.
In our nature walk,
we`ve been also seeing a bee on a white flower whose movement looked not
tranquil. We watched it carefully. A white spider – white crab spider – apparently
camouflaged upon the white petal – its color veritably similar – so that while
the bee didn`t so careful, it`s trapped and the spider caught it rapidly, this
greedy little monster was biting its food quickly. Another impressive side, was
about the crab spider whose size was so much smaller than the prey. “Spider
must experienced in making knaveries.” I thought.
Spiders, and
Arachnids, are truly carnivores. And venomous, even to human. But mostly the
venom might be more harm to the animals of its scales. Despite some of them,
also harmful and the venom could preside human into death. Black Widow is a
true notorious spider with the most toxic venom in North America.
The next spider we
encountered, was an ogre-faced spider. Ogre-faced also showed a good technique
of camouflage, it`s thin and the color mixed with the stalks color. Moreover,
this spider`s able not to bent its legs, so that ogre-faced couldn`t be seen at
all. In fact, ogre-faced spider generally spend the days sleeping. It`s unusual
to see ogre-faced was up in the morning.

Spider had always
been an amazing creature which exist. Our journey – of watching spiders –

article rendering advantage to the readers. Thanks a lot for reading.
